Services

We offer a variety of services to people seeking sanctuary around Berkshire. This includes emergency accommodation, employability, support with legal costs, English language support, family reunion support, long-term housing solutions, and general advice.

Emergency Respite

We offer some limited emergency accommodation for those who are unable to access any through their local councils. Accommodation is typically short term and designed to help either avoid a short period of homelessness until other options become available to the recipient, or to offer respite to those experiencing long term street homelessness. â€‹

At the moment, our service is limited to the county of Berkshire. While priority will begiven to those in need of the service locally, we will consider applicants outside of this catchment area for any of the following reasons:

01

Their physical safety is in serious jeopardy
exceptional examples include but are not limited to:

  1. they live within an area that is hostile to sanctuary seekers and there are ongoing protests.

  2. their mental health has deteriorated to the degree that there is physical self-harm.

  3. they have recently experienced street violence.

  4. they are vulnerable to sexual exploitation.

02

Their duty of care is under an LA outside of Berkshire, but they have spent a substantial amount of time within the county and have subsequently formed a community within it.

03

They are age disputed, and recognised organisations within the sector have reason to believe they are under the age of 18.

04

There is dispute over the Local Authority with which their case resides which is impacted their ability to access accommodation that they would otherwise receive.

Phoenix Programme

Our Phoenix Programme is designed to support refugees who have fallen behind, become homeless, jobless, or lost hope. This initiative is dedicated to assisting individuals in rebuilding their lives by offering comprehensive and bespoke support to adult individuals who have recently received their right to remain.

Participants are assigned a dedicated support worker who guides them through the employment system, assists with access to education and training, offers financial advice, supports in applying for housing and private renting, and is generally available for any guidance needed to help them into living independent and successful lives.

Who is suitable to apply for the Phoenix Programme?

The programme is designed for self-motivated individuals who are enthusiastic about transitioning into a financially independent state. We recognise that many refugees who have had successful careers in their countries of origin, or [who are very capable] have very limited opportunities when they first receive their status. Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate a desire for [fulltime employment] and will already have a good level of written and spoken English.
